Organ course


The specialty is aimed to students of E.E., E.P. of harpsichord or piano wishing to start specializing in organ, as well as to those students who wish to deepen or enhance their studies of both E.P. and E.S.

Given that the Archpriestal Church of San Juan Bautista will be closed for works, the organ specialty will be taught on different instruments from the North of the province that we will visit: basically practice will be done on the positive organ donated by the ADDA to afterwards visit the following organs:

  • Church of La Asunción of Gorga: Iberian Baroque organ of 1801.
  • Church of Sant Jaume and Santa Ana de Benidorm: eclectic organ from 2012
  • Church of LaMisericordia of Banyeres de Mariola: Iberian late 18th century Baroque organ.

The baroque Organ


  • To understand and assimilate the theoretical aspects of the music during the Renaissance and the Baroque according to the ancient treatises.
  • To recognize the musical writing and to know to encompass it in its time and in its style.
  • To differentiate different types of composition: dances, religious music, concerti, etc.
  • Understand the bars and rhythms (Hemiolas, polyrhythms, etc) according to the historical treatises.
  • Understand and apply the articulation according to the period and the style.
  • To practise the techniques of ornamentation of the Renaissance and the Baroque according to the ancient treaties.
  • Differentiate the different ways of ornamenting: glosses, jogs, doubles, trills, etc.
  • Understand different fingerings according to various historical sources
  • Types of writing: tablature, figure, etc.
  • Understand and work the touch in an historic Organ with wedge bellows.
