The courses aim to make known the instruments used in the Spanish chapels from the 16th to the eighteenth centuries, and in the case of the Dulcian until the end of the XIX century.
In addition to the own technique of each instrument, work will be done in group (instrumental ensembles, Minstrels band, etc.) to attend especially the instrumental repertoire of the XVI century (dance music, polyphony with instruments) and as far as possible these classes will be nourished of music composed in the churches and cathedrals of Iberian scope. It will also offer courses of improvisation of ancient music, knowledge of which is indispensable for the comprehension and interpretation according to the practice of the time.
Students and professionals of the equivalent modern instruments can participate (bassoon, oboe, flute of Pico, clarinet, piano, etc), as well as instrumentalists of the folklore or the popular music («Dulzaineros», Pipers, Chirimiteros…).
Specialist in modern bassoon and vintage instruments. He teaches at the Conservatory of Music in Majadahonda. Member of various chamber formations. In 1997 he formed together with Paco Rubio and Javier Artigas the ensemble of Ancient music Ministriles de Marsyas, specialising in the interpretation of music from the 16th-18th century with historicist criteria.
DULCIAN AND BAJONCILLOS
Aimed at all those who wish to initiate knowledge and interpretation with these instruments, preferably bassoon students or other double-tab instruments.
We will work the position and correct placement of the instrument, mouth, breathing and control of the air column, fingering, tuning, articulation and phrasing, sonority and other aspects of the basic technique.
Articles, treaties, methods, repertoire, constructors related to the instrument.
Work of the repertoire soloist of authors like Ortiz (refences), Selma and Salaverde (Fantasies), Antonio Bertoli (sonatas), Frescobaldi (sonatas), Castello (sonatas), verses of Ferreñac or any other that the students themselves present.
The course has two quartets of Dulcians and Bajoncillos with tunings in the 440Hz. and the 465Hz.
BAJONCILLOS AND CHIRIMÍAS ENSEMBLE
Practice with a set of Bajoncillos and chirimías of Spanish authors such as Antonio de Cabezón, comes, Bartolomé de Selma, Fabordones, Organ repertoire and vocal polyphony adapted to this type of ensemble.
As well as other minstrels, special attention will be paid to Iberian music for Minstrels: Cabezón, Lerma, Selma and Salaverde etc.
